Uganda v Kasibante & Another [HCT-00-ICD-SC-0016-2022] (20 November 2023)

A2 provided A1 with money and food to take the victim (a girl child) back to his home after the victim had given birth to A1’s child and the child died. A1 told police the victim had stolen money from him, but the police arrested A1 and A2 when the police went to the victim’s house.

The accused persons recruited the victims, many of whom were the wives and children of the accused, to force them to join the ADF by lying about the location they were being transported. The accused were intercepted near the DRC border.

Uganda v Wakwaya [HCT–00–ICD–SC–001–2022] (13 April 2023)

Complainant’s children were taken from their grandmother’s house under the pretext that the accused was transporting them back to their mother in Mbale, when he in fact took them to an ADF camp - the children have not been found. Charges were dismissed because the accused had been pardoned.

Spence & Another v Uganda [Criminal Misc. Application No. 020 of 2023] (22 March 2023)

The applicants were foreign nationals from the United States charged with aggravated trafficking in children but were granted bail due to exigent circumstances after finding appropriate sureties. Court used its discretion to grant bail when the medical report was inconclusive.
